Welcome to the Dr Migrate user guide. This guide walks you through the product the same way you'll use it: as a journey from discovering your environment to executing your migration. It mirrors the left-hand navigation in the app, so wherever you are on screen, you can find the matching page here.
The Dr Migrate journey¶
Every migration in Dr Migrate follows five phases. You don't have to do everything at once. Each phase builds on the last, and your insights get richer as you go.
Connect your data sources and map servers into application workloads.
Explore your estate, understand technology risk and modernization opportunities.
Set a strategy, assign treatments, group applications into waves and model cost.
Run migration waves and track progress in the Migration Centre.
Generate executive reports and your tailored migration strategy.
How this guide is organised¶
The guide is split into two parts so you can find what you need quickly:
Task-based, screen-by-screen guidance for using the app, organised by the five journey phases. You're reading it now.
The deeper technical detail: architecture, data collection internals, requirements, security and Azure integration.
Recommended first run¶
Connect your data¶
Upload a DMC scan or connect Azure Migrate so Dr Migrate can build your estate.
Review your Rapid Insights report¶
Generate it from the Dashboard or Outputs → Executive Reports once you have enough discovered data: an executive summary of what was found.
Map your workloads¶
Group servers into applications so insights and planning become application-aware.
Plan and report¶
Set a strategy, generate waves and a business case, then share the outputs.
